I've loosely based this prediction league on "The European Soccer Prediction League" that used to be around. That league closed shop a while back and I decided it was about time to get another league going.

There will actually be more then one league. There will be a league based on the major leagues around the world (i.e.. Premiership, Bundesliga, MLS). There will also be a few special leagues for International competitions and the like. If you wish to see a league started that I don't currently have, drop me a line and I'll set it up. Each league will be run completely independently. And you can join as many leagues as you want.

Each league will be run with multiple divisions on a relegation/promotion type system. There will be a maximum number of between 8 and 12 people in each division. The divisions will be set up in a pyramid shape, with one top division 2 or 3 second level divisions and so on. The actual shape of each league will depend on how many people sign up for that particular league.

Each league will have 2 "seasons" a year. Each season will be between 10 and 20 weeks long depending on how long the real season is. At the end of each season, the top person in each division will be promoted to the next highest division. And the bottom few people will be relegated down.

At the end of the year the top players in the first divisions of each league will be invited to a champions league to coincide with the real European Champions League the following year.

Instead of determining the league winner based on the total number of points they have gotten through the season, there will be a head-to-head element. Each week players will be paired up in direct competition. They compete against each others predications. Which ever player scores more points wins the game. With 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, and 0 points for a loss.

To win the individual pairings you must score more points then your opponent. The points break down like most predication leagues:

While this might seem complicated, remember that everything is done automatically. All you need to do, as a player, is make your predictions each week and try to climb up to the top division. To make your predictions you just need to login to the website and fill out a form. In the coming months there will also be an email submission form, if you prefer that.
